The Co-operative: Understanding consumer needs in 2030

The Co-operative has worked with SCB Partners on a series of research projects to ensure they future proof their business.

Challenge

The Co-operative Group wished to understand the British consumer environment in 2030 to identify emerging consumer needs that it could provide for and potentially align with.

Approach

SCB Partners enlisted a panel of reputable futurologists to offer an overview of major societal changes in the UK and their consequences for consumers. This was combined with secondary research from a variety of industry and governmental sources, to create six over-arching ‘drivers’ to describe the state of the UK in 2030. These drivers were further explored through an in-depth report and immersive client workshop which identified and explored key consumer needs, and demonstrated where Co-op could focus its future efforts.
